The film in brief
This 3D service animation shows step by step how the desiccant cartridge insert and the main filter kit are fitted in the Knorr-Bremse EAC2.5 electronic air control unit. It is part of a series of service animations for workshops.
Every step in view
When servicing a lorry's air treatment unit, the details matter: the correct position of a part, the right grease, the specified torque. Knorr-Bremse wanted to show workshops these steps in a way that is easy to follow without lengthy explanations.
We built a 3D model of the EAC2.5 from the CAD data and used it to develop a series of service animations – from storyboard, animation and rendering to graphics and editing.
Production process

From CAD model to storyboard
The starting point was Knorr-Bremse's design data. In the storyboard we defined which step is shown in which view – from exploded view to close-up.

Animation and rendering
The camera moves in close to each component, and housing parts become transparent or are hidden. This reveals what stays out of sight once the unit is installed.

Instructions that are clear
Pictograms, right-and-wrong comparisons and values such as the tightening torque make the key instructions clear at a glance. The animations are used in the Knorr-Bremse TruckServices e-service portal, in training and at trade fairs.
Result
A service animation that guides workshops worldwide through the fitting process – part of a whole series on the EAC2.5 air control unit.
